Large supermarkets – retail parks Large supermarkets (Tesco Extra) at Fforestfach Retail Park – NW Swansea Long hours, busy at weekends Fashion stores like Next – compete with CBDlarge car parks – appeal to affluent shoppers with cars Edge of city location near good roads (M4)SEVERAL MAJOR HYPERMARKETS SPREAD AROUND THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY CLOSE TO MAJOR ROAD JUNCTIONS. Lots of smaller supermarkets serving local communities.

  6. 5. Bishopston – small rural town Small rural settlements have suffered from competition from supermarkets in neighbouring larger towns cities. Very few stores survive – maybe the village Post Office and store? The commuters from Bishopston mainly shop in Swansea. May buy from local farmer’s markets occasionally at weekends.
