Fats • Fats fuel the body and help absorb some vitamins. • types • Unsaturated fats: . good for heart health • Saturated fats: too much can raise blood cholesterol • Trans fats: like saturated fats • FactsVitamins A, D, E, and K can only be digested, absorbed, and transported via fats. • Examples: Meats, plant foods etc...

  4. Protein • builds and repairs tissues. • Different Kinds of Protein • complete (all amino acids) • Incomplete ( not all amino acids) • Examples: meats, nuts, cheese, fish etc... • Facts vegetariansget all their amino acids by eating protein-rich vegetables

  5. Vitamins • Your body needs them to work properly • Types: fat soluble and water soluble. • Examples: fruit, the sun, vegetables, milk • Facts: Vitamin D helps your bones, Vitamin A helps you see at night • Vitamin C helps your body heal • Vitamin B helps your body make protein and energy.

  6. Minerals • Helps your body function properly • Types: Macro minerals and Trace Minerals • Examples: Iron, Calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, fish, dried fruit, meat, dairy products, fruit • Facts: most macro minerals can be found in salt water

  7. Fiber • Types: water-soluble and insoluble • Function: helps move food through the digestive system • Examples: like fruits, vegetables, and grains, bread • Facts: It may also lower LDL cholesterol as well as help prevent diabetes and heart disease.

  8. Water • Important jobs in the human body need water • Only one type if you don’t count salt water • Examples: Water, fruit, meat, vegetables, bread • Facts: When your body does not have enough water you become dehydrated
