  11. NWSC • NCAR Wyoming Supercomputing Center • http://www.cisl.ucar.edu/nwsc • Occupied and staffed • Data center switch/routers installed -- access: QFX3500s, core and WAN edge: EX8200 series switch routers • Supers in over summer 2012 – Yellowstone • http://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/resources/yellowstone • http://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/resources/yellowstone/hardwar • http://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/resources/yellowstone/installation-schedule • http://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/resources/yellowstone/science • BiSON fiber for NWSC in place Dec-2011

  12. BiSON to NWSC • Initially three 10G circuits active • Options for dedicated 10G connections for high performance computing to other BiSON members • System is engineered for 40 individual lambdas • Each lambda can be a 10G • 40G or 100G connection would require hardware investment • Independent lambdas can be sent each direction around the ring (two ADVA shelves at NWSC – one for each direction) • With a major upgrade system could support 80 lambdas • 100Gbps * 80 channels * 2 paths = 16Tbps

  13. EAGLE-Net (EN) • Educational Access Gateway Learning Environment Network • http://www.co-eaglenet.net/ • On schedule • Actively constructing throughout Colorado • Switch/router hardware being deployed • I25 Denver to Cheyenne fiber build has broken ground • Will tie in Cheyenne and NWSC as part of BiSON • Diverse path • Scot Colburn joined as Network Engineer

  14. Report from Utah • SLC Downtown Data Center complete – now in fit out stage – production service moves start next month • SLC metro optical network to be completed in June • Fiber/conduit from UTA, UDOT, Zayo, and Syringa • Cienaoptronics • Optical extensions to USU and BYU later this summer • UEN Board has approved a100-Gbps upgrade on the metro ring • UofUtah and UEN are collaborating on GENI Spiral 3 regional award to deploy GENI switches and racks in UEN • UEN will join the U.S. Ignite initiative - formal unveiling this month • Utah (BYU, USU, and UofU) and Wyoming are collaborating on a joint EPSCoRTrack-2 award focused on regional hydrological modeling and CI development • Utah and Montana extended the 2x10G Internet2 connection partnership through 2014
