  2. The Spirit of Fear • 2 Tim 1 v 7 – What is the Spirit of Fear? • The spirit of fear is an overwhelming emotion, a constant feeling of impending doom and a condemnation in your spirit. The feeling, no matter what you do and how you try, just never seems to subside. The feeling just, lurks. This spirit of fear makes taking even one step forward difficult, but we have not received a spirit of fear. • Spirit of fear and our fearful emotions – Same thing

What is Fear? • Proverbs 1 v 7 - Is speaking of the fear of the Lord which is a reverence or being in aw of God – Not this type of Fear. • Fear is caused by you dreading, being concerned or worrying (in the mind) normally about a future situation that you believe may cause pain or threaten you in some way. • Fear may cause anxiety, stress or panic about what you perceive as uncontrollable or unavoidable threats. • We can fear missing out – Gossip, act in haste

What Fear does to your Quality of life • Ruins it – Robs, Kills and Destroys. • Fear that leads to stress can cause a sense of being overwhelmed, irritability, insecurity, nervousness, scared, social withdrawal, loss of appetite, depression, panic attacks, exhaustion, high or low blood pressure, skin eruptions or rashes, insomnia, migraine, paranoia, gastrointestinal difficulties (constant sick feeling, constipation or diarrhoea), and for women, menstrual symptoms or heart problems. • Stop you from walking in Gods best – Fear of taking a risk or stepping out in Faith. • It is not good for you. No such thing as positive or a healthy fear in this sense. Confuse Fear with Wisdom.

How to overcome Fear • 2 Tim 1 v 7 – For God has not given us a Spirit of Fear but of Power and of Love and of Sound Mind. • 3 Keys: The Spirit in us given to us by God is not a Spirit of fear – But through Gods Spirit we have Power to overcome, to understand the Love of God for us and the ability to submit our Thoughts to Christ.

  6. Get back Trust – Walk in Gods Power • Eph 3 v 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. • John 14 v 14 – If you ask anything in My Name I will do it. • Eph 3 v 18 - May have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

  7. Get back Trust – Understand Gods Love for you • 1 John v 18 - There is no fear in love;  but perfect love cast out fear: because fear hath torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in Love. • John 3 v 16 - For God so loved the World…………. Understand the Cross. • Rom 8 v 38-39 - For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  8. Get back Trust – Control Your Thoughts • Isa 26 v 3 You keep him in perfect peace (absence of Fear) whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. • 2 Cor 10 v 5 - We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. • 1 Cor 2 v 16 - Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?’ We, however, have the mind of Christ (Access the Mind of Christ through Gods Word) Learn to respond how He would to situations

  9. Get back Trust – Intimacy with God • Only two things are necessary in order to trust someone. First you must find someone who is trustworthy. Second, you must get to know Him not just know about Him. • But when it comes to the Christian life, only one thing is required; that you come to Jesus, and that you keep coming to Him day by day. If you will keep coming to Him, God has made Himself responsible for taking care of everything else that needs to happen in your life. • When you learn to "Know" God in this way, you will trust Him completely, and you will truly be able to live without fear. • Jeremiah 29 v 13 - You will seek Me and you WILL find Me (but only) when you search for Me with ALL your heart

  10. Get back Trust – Live by Faith • Rom 10 v 17 - Faith Comes by Hearing and hearing by the Word of God • Faith, which is trust, and fear are opposite poles. If a man has the one will hardly be present if present at all. • Faith is trust in God, and the only way to develop faith is to learn to know God. Since He is trustworthy, as we learn to know Him, we spontaneously learn to trust Him. Faith is trusting God when things don't turn out the way we expect.

Trust God to live a Fruitful and Overcoming life • Mat 21 v 22 - And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith • Mat 7 v 7 - Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. • Ask for the Peace of God when you begin to feel fear. • Luke 12 v 32- Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Within our Control, A choice. A command. • Deuteronomy 31 v 6 - Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. • Philippians 4 v 6-7 - Be anxious for NOTHINGbut in all things • Mat 6 v 25 – Therefore I say to you, do not worry…….. God has a promise to take care of every worrying situation…. Don’t let fear decided your destiny
