  2. Pronoun • A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun or nouns.

  3. Remember • A noun is a person, place, or thing. • You add an “s” to most nouns if you are talking about more than one.

  4. Pronouns We Know • he • she • it • we • you • they • I • me

  5. Other Pronouns to Know • him • her • us • them

  6. Caution • He, she, it, him, and her take the place of just one noun. • We,they, us, and them take the place of more than one noun. • You takes the place of just one noun or more than one noun if you are referring to a group. • I and me take the place of your name.

  7. Something New Pronouns • I, you, he, she, it, we , and they are used in the naming part of a sentence. • Me, you, him, her, it, us, and them are used in the action part of a sentence.

  8. Remember • The naming part names a person, place, animal or thing. The naming part tells who or what the sentence is about. • The action part is the part of the sentence that tells what a person or thing does.

  10. Example of Pronouns in Naming Part • Colin likes Daisy Duck. • is changed to • He likes Daisy Duck.

  11. Example of Pronouns in Naming Part • Cheryl and Rick love Goofy! • is changed to • They love Goofy!

  12. Example of Pronouns in Naming Part • The class went to the museum. • is changed to • We went to the museum.

  13. Remember • Pronouns in the action part of a sentence: • me • you • him • her • it • us • them

  14. Example of Pronouns in the Action Part • The crown belongs to Mrs. Bell. • is changed to • The crown belongs to her.

  15. Example of Pronouns in the Action Part • Goofy greeted the boys. • Is changed to • Goofy greeted them.

  16. Example of Pronouns in the Action Part • Grady made the pizza. • Is changed to • Grady made it.
