  1. HBD electronics • There is no room to do the readout electronics adjacent to the detector. • Cable the amplified signals out • Signal has to be driven out differential to minimized the noise pick up. • The FEE could take over the current MVD rack. • One could put 4 6U size crates in the rack • This has to cover both FEE and trigger sections DCM Shaper ADC Buffer+ Format Trigger

  2. 16 channel example Assumptions • All commercial components • Low packing density, short lead time • You can only pack ~1000 channels into one racks • Local level 1 trigger for HBD will stay with the FEE or somewhere nearby • It is costly to send ~1000 channel of data every beam crossing into counting house. • Fiber has much less packing density than copper for short distance communications. • For the moment, I only have rough idea about the L1 trigger Amplify/shaper adc

  3. Plans • Conceptual design • 1/16 scale test – one GEM panel • Production • Trigger can be separate out from the FEE initial construction but we need to have conceptual part work out. • Prototype still need to be built • Schedule will be driven by • Finalized the detector design • the fund • available manpower

  4. Detector size • Dimensions of active area: • - in z direction |η| ≤ 0.4 : z = 45cm • - in φ direction at r = 55 cm: s = 96 cm • Segmentation: • - along the beam axis: 2 pieces • - along the azimuthal axis: 4 pieces • Total: 16 detector elements 22.5 x 24 cm2 each
