  3. Magic Hat… Why are we doing this??? • to participate in collaborative learning opportunities • to reflect on current practices • to investigate whether authentic learning is taking place in our classrooms

  4. Magic Hat… How we’re going to get there… • Select a quality lesson/strategy to share • Lesson/strategy will include a visual and a written document • 3. Visual and written document will be posted on • http://www.teachertubemysite.com/gms

  5. Important Info • Megan, Sarah, and Karen will assist you with all of your planning and technology needs • No more than two teachers may work together • Megan and Sarah will create an account for you on our GMS TeacherTube Mysite

  6. Have Fun Building! • Paper Platform Challenge • Technology Education

  7. Visuals Pick a visual format that works for you • Pictures • Video • PowerPoint • MovieMaker • …etc.

  8. Examples • Comprehension of the novel Hatchet • Using Photostory with explanation of the project • Ballroom Dance • Video lesson edited in Movie Maker • Sixth grade pull-out English class read The Wizard of Oz • Using Voice Thread • Guidance Videos • Videos edited in Movie Maker • 8th Grade - National Geographic Africa Map50 states, regions, and cities of historical importance • Using PowerPoint converted to video

Timeline… • See Megan or Sarah to schedule a time to meet and plan and/or a time to use equipment (film, photograph) Oct.6th Dept.Chair-Visual and lesson due Oct.7th Inservice-Dept.Chairs present to their departments -Sign-ups for other teachers Nov. 7th Teachers-Visual and lesson due Nov. Faculty Meetings-Other teachers present to their departments (Health/PE dept. will team with Science dept. and Electives will team with English for the year to share lessons)

  10. Incentives!!!! • Recertification Points! • 5 points per post up to a 90 point maximum (Will receive certificate upon completion of each post) • Name in monthly door prize drawing for everyone who posted lesson the previous month

  11. What do we do Now?!? • Meet with ALL members of your dept. in the Dept. chair’s classroom immediately after this session today: • English/Electives: Wynn/Rose (room 111-Art room) • Math: Deal (room 231) • History: Darby (room 220) • Science/PE: Davis/Look (room 225) • Refer to the Magic Hat Visual Lesson Planning sheet (in your binder)

  12. Remember • Submission MUST include: • Written Lesson Plan • Reponses to the Authentic Learning Course Questions listed on page 1 of the Authentic Learning lesson plan handout • Visual Lesson/Strategy Example GMS Teacher Project
