Federalist Papers Written between October 1787 and May 1788, eighty-five articles were written by Alexander Hamilton (51 Pgs.), John Jay (5 Pgs.), and James Madison (26 Pgs.) and then Hamilton and Madison wrote three pages together. Support of ratification of the constitution Too theoretical to make an impact on those who would vote on the proposed constitution, however highlighted the reasons for the structure of the new government and its benefits. The Anti-Federalists responded with a series of letters, written under the names of Brutus and Cato two Roman names famous for intolerance of tyranny.

  2. Federalists Favored a stronger national government and supported the proposed U.S. Constitution; later became the first U.S. political party. The federalists were aware that there were still many people opposing the notion of a strong national government naming them Anti-Federalists. Federalists and Anti-Federalists participated in meetings in state legislatures to discuss pros and cons of the new plan, which got very heated. Debates were published in news papers, both sides were found all around the nation.
