Role of the EEB 3 Parents’ Association Mission: Representing the parents from 7 sections (CZ, DE, EL, EN, ES, FR, NL) in all areas affecting the school life of our children • Educational affairs (within and outside our school) • Services management (transport, canteen, extra-curricular activities) • Participation in the wider context of all European Schools (following the activities of the Secretariat-General of European Schools, Board of Governors, Inter-Parents Association) • Provide information and communicate with parents on a variety of actions

APEEE is a non-profit organization under Belgian law (AISBL), which manages its own budget, employees and external staff APEEE Administration & Services Educational aspects Communication aspects Representing the parents at the Administrative Council of the school APEEE keeps parents informed: GENERAL MATTERS (secretariat, budget implementation, social funds etc.) CANTEEN Consultation with the school Representing the parents at the Educational Councils of the school (primary, secondary) Website http://apeeeb3.eu Distribution of messages from the school (SMS) and from APEEE to all parents (via email to representatives of the class) Representing the parents at the Consultation Committee of the school EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Co-management with the school Representing the parents at INTERPARENTS Newsletter IXL Tribune TRANSPORT Representing the parents at the Board of Governors and its preparatory bodies Representing the parents in negotiations with other partners (EU institutions, local authorities etc.)

ALL PARENTS OF THE SCHOOL Election of 4 class representatives in each class (including 1 “info rep” and one Treasurer) General Assembly (GA) Open to all members having paid the annual subscription fee Only class representatives have the right to vote Administrative Board (25 members) (elected by the sections, MAT class representatives and the GA) 7 section representatives for primary (1 per section) 7 sections’ representatives for secondary (1 per section) 1 MAT representative (elected by all MAT class representatives) 10 members elected by the GA Office (9 members) (elected by the Board) 1 President, 1 VP Administration, 1 VP Educational matters, 1 VP Communication, 1 representative per sector (canteen, transport, extracurricular), 1 Treasurer, 1 Secretary

Parents’ representation in school life School bodies • Primary and secondary Educational Councils (1 person elected by each section on a yearly basis) – meeting 4 times per year with school management and teacher representatives (for school-internal educational issues) • APEEE representation in the school’s Advisory Board (administration/finance) and in its Consultative Committee (annual planning) • Health and Safety Committee (for hygiene and security matters) School events • Primary Book Day (26 November 2015) / Secondary Book Sale • Primary and Secondary Libraries (“Readers”/ Supervisors) • Springfest (on 22 April 2016)

EDUCATIONAL ISSUES • General Enrolment policy (at the level of the Central • Enrolment Authority of all European Schools) • Establishment and functioning of schools (Board of • Governors) • Curriculum of nursery / primary / secondary studies • (Board of Governors) • BAC organisation / recognition (Board of Governors, • school management) • APEEE (VP on pedagogy, Robert WEIN) / INTERPARENTS (IP rep. Joanna CHARLAT) and other WG members share views on many other issues … falling with several and different competent authorities

TRANSPORT SERVICE • Morning – Arrivals by 8.15 am (ALL) • 1st departure - 3.35 pm (Nursery/Primary/S1-2) • 2nd departure – 4.30 pm (S1-7) • Wednesday departure – 1 pm OR shuttle bus (4 stops after lunch) • Service to Commission nurseries – at 3.30 pm / 1.30 pm (Wednesdays) / 12.30 am (Fridays) • Attendants on all buses (adults or upper secondary students) • Over 2,100 pupils daily • APEEE exclusive competence Manager: Isabelle CALLENS APEEE representative: Keir FITCH (and other members of a Working Group (Fiona SHOTTER, Tassos PAPADOPOULOS))

CANTEEN / CAFETERIA • Hot meal served (5 days/week) – cooked on-site • 4 servings between 11.20 am and 13.45 pm • On average, 2,000 meals served each day • Cafeteria for secondary students • Oversight committee of APEEE, including the School (acting in a consultative function) Manager: Didier DELHOUX APEEE representative: Stephan MARQUARDT (and other members of a Working Group (Maria SAURA-MORENO, Tomas HRUBY))

  25. 21/22 APRIL 2016 SPRINGFEST

  26. The only activity that mobilises the entire school community: pupils, teachers and parents… In 2016, it will take place on 21/22 April – “Welcome event” and a whole “party day” What is it?

  27. What kind of activities? • Opening ceremony on 21 April – Main day (on 22 April) full of activities…. • Primary: Games organised by teachers (morning) and parents (afternoon), shows, dances, etc. + EUROVILLAGE • Secondary: The Battle of the Band; Game Palace; Fashion show; Football tournament; • In the evening: Disco for secondary pupils (junior and senior) – Music Café for ALL

  28. How? • Organised and coordinated by the Springfest Committee • Representatives of • the management of the school (both primary and secondary); • the parents; • the teachers (primary and secondary); • the students (two from secondary for overall coordination)
