  1. Book ReportTitle: Cirque Du FreakAuthor: Darren ShanDate Published: 2002Type of Book: Fiction - Horror Joshua Speshock Reading - 7th Period

  2. Setting Present Time – around year 2000 Location is in England Abandoned Theatre converted into Freak Show Spiders, Snakes, bats Wolfman, Vampires, Disfigured humans

  3. Characters Book contains over 10 characters. Main Characters Darren - interested in spiders Steve - interested in vampires thus being drawn to this freak show. Steve is Darren’s best friend and grew up reading horror comics and stories of the werewolves and vampires. Mr. Crepsley- a vampire and had the power to turn people into vampires.

  4. PLOT - Problem Steve has a problem with Mr. Crepsley on wanting to be a vampire. Mr. Crepsley says no and Steve declares revenge. Darren being fond of spiders takes Mr. Crepsley’s prize spider and throughout the story is being hunted down by Mr. Crepsley. Instead of Steve becoming a vampire, Darren becomes a half-vampire.

  5. PLOT - Resolution Even though Darren became a vampire he was able to use the other half as a human and save his friend Steve of cleaning his poison blood. By remaining a half- vampire Darren is able to continue to play with the prize spider without issues from Mr. Crepsley.

  6. My Opinion With respect to being believable, I think it was not believable because vampires aren’t real, nobody can come from the afterlife and they can’t be half-vampire. The 1st part of the book had much action, plot is set and drama is interesting. 2nd half of the book was less action but ended with fulfillment and suspense. I would continue the series of Cirque De Freak. .

  7. About The Author Incorporates himself into the story Created series of Cirque De Freak books Irish born Lived in South East London, near the Elephant Castle Cirque De freak was his first children's book prior to this were adult books .

  8. 5 Questions Who and how was Madam Octa controlled? By Mr. Crepsley playing a flute. What was the fate Of Darren at the end of the story? He was killed and Mr. Crepsley made him into a half-vampire. How was Darren and Steve introduced to Mr. Crepsley? By an invite to the freak show How is Steve saved from his poisoned blood? Mr. Crepsley bit Steve and sucked out the poison blood. What were the creatures in the freak show? Werewolf, vampire, snake-boy, spiders

  9. Book Summary j Darren Shan and his friend Steve find about a freak show coming to town and work hard at trying to find tickets. They do, and together they go to the freak show where they see many strange things including a wolf-man etc. Steve and Darren think that it is all a joke.
