Core Elements of Maritime Power Although the Sea Services conduct many missions, the following six capabilities comprise the core of U.S. maritime power and reflect an increase in emphasis on those activities that prevent war and build partnerships: • Forward Presence • Deterrence • Sea Control • Power Projection • Maritime Security • Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Response • Medical support on the deckplates and battlefield • Carriers, ships, subs, Marines, Seabees, Spec Ops, more

  8. Mission: Biomedical Research Medical research strengthens our force’s ability to operate around the world and benefits US & global public health
