Economic Crisis Effects and Future Strategies in South-Eastern Europe
This paper analyzes the economic situation in South-Eastern Europe (SEE) during and after the financial crisis, highlighting both commonalities and differences among SEE countries. It discusses the sharp growth before the crisis driven by domestic demand, the impact of escalating public deficits, and rising vulnerabilities. The banking sector's stability, despite challenges, is explored along with monetary and fiscal policy responses. Recommendations for a growth-enhancing model focus on improving credit supply, managing non-performing loans (NPLs), and reinforcing financial stability.
