European Shipbuilding Industry- Views, Assessment and Problem Solving Vigo, Spain, December 1, 2009 • The crisis before last of Poland's shipbuilding industry was in the years 1991-1993. • The composition proceedings with the creditors (Chapter eleven in USA Code) of 1992 made Stocznia Szczecińska avoid its bankruptcy.

European Shipbuilding Industry- Views, Assessment and Problem Solving Vigo, Spain, December 1, 2009 • In the year 1995, the Clarkson Research Studies ranked Stocznia Szczecińska 5th in the world in terms of the attained annual output and order-book. • During the years 1991 – 2002, we built 160 ships without any support whatever from the state or any other business structures.

European Shipbuilding Industry- Views, Assessment and Problem Solving Vigo, Spain, December 1, 2009 • In 2001, the Government refused to grant its guarantees to the Shipyard claiming that 'a private entity will not be supported' and aimed at making the Holding bankrupt. • The Government and its agencies took over, in an unlawful manner, a part of the assets, and funded Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa, and managed it and subsidised with billions USD. According to the EU, the subsidies were illegitimate and Stocznia Nowa has to refund 1.7 billion USD. In such a way the crisis of the Polish shipbuilding industry evolved.

European Shipbuilding Industry- Views, Assessment and Problem Solving Vigo, Spain, December 1, 2009 • The EU, in helping Poland resolve the problem in the shipbuilding industry, despite of Poland's Government having delivered the documents which had nothing in common with the truth, notwithstanding those flaws, constructed the grounds for the so-called compensation act, passed by the Polish Parliament. The act delimits the end of the shipbuilding industry in Poland.

Those teams will be indispensable, with the preference being given to complex, innovative structures with state-of-the-art technologies.
