  1. Name _________________________________________ Date ___________________ Period _________ BIOLOGY REFERENCE TABLES The world, it has often been remarked, is not fair. However, mespetitschous, “not fair” does not even begin to describe the horrible inequity that has been pushed upon biology students all over the state. Perhaps you are unaware, but Earth Science has reference tables, Physics has reference tables and Chemistry has reference tables. Why, then, does the esteemed field of Biology have no such tables? One explanation that I have put forth many-a-time is that students of Biology are simply better than everyone else, and can memorize more stuff. I’ve also been hit in the face with a test tube, rock or pendulum bob by Chemistry, Earth Science or Physics students, respectively, each time I have suggested this to them. So, if you can’t beat them, join them. You will use this sheet to help Mr. Syracuse construct a Biology reference tables that will be shared and modified by students for years to come! KEEP THIS SHEET, because you’ll need to add things to it throughout the year. Periodically, Mr. Syracuse will provide you with a typed, updated version of the reference tables that you’ve created, free of charge. You’ll be able to use the tables on ANY TEST OR QUIZ, excluding the Regents exam. 0. What’s the best kind of cake? 1. What physical constants do you want on the tables? (e.g. density of water, melting point of ice, etc.) 2. What formulæ do you want on the tables? (e.g. density, volume, conversion to kelvins, etc.) 3. What maps do you want on the tables? (e.g. different biomes, continents, etc.)

  2. 4. What charts do you want on the tables? (e.g. metric prefixes, etc.) 5. What other information or constants (e.g. speed of light, amount of blood in body, etc.) would you like on the tables?
