  3. Coaching Philosophy WE ARE A TEAM! It doesn’t matter what club you practice at or whether you are a high school swimmer or diver- we support and encourage each other. Being a part of a team is a life skill.

  4. Sports Eligibility • A student is eligible to represent Forsyth County High Schools if they meet the following specific requirements: • Student must be a bona fide undergraduate member of a Forsyth County High School. • In the judgment of the principal and athletic director, the student must be a representative of the school’s ideals in matters of conduct and sportsmanship on and off school campus. • During the period of participation, student must be enrolled in a full academic load. • Student must be eligible in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and Georgia Rule 160-5-1-.18 See www.ghsa.net > Constitution and By-Laws

  5. How do I make the swim/dive team? • Attend tryouts • Tryouts are mandatory for ALL participants. • Divers will be evaluated by coach. • Swimmers must make at least 1 time cut listed below:

  6. Swim & Dive Tryout Important Dates Swim Tryout #1: Monday, October 16th 6-7:15am Dive Tryout: Tuesday, October 17th 6-7:15am Swim Tryout #2: Wednesday, October 18th 6-7:15am Dive Roster Released: Thursday, October 19th Swim Roster Released: Friday, October 20th

  7. Dive Camp Tuesday, October 10th 6-7:15am Friday, October 13th 6-7:15am Are you interested in diving but unsure if it is a good fit? Come to dive camp to learn the correct approach and try it out! Cost is free. Participation is recommended but not mandatory. Physicals must be on file to participate.

Upcoming Dates to Remember • Oct. 2nd - Complete Physical Packets* due to Coach Fairbanks - PUT IN BASKET BEHIND DOOR • Oct 7th- Swim & Dive Car Wash (TBA) • Oct. 16th-18th- Tryouts for Swim & Dive • Oct 19th/20th- Official Roster Released • Oct. 23rd- Mandatory Swim & Dive Meeting for Athletes* • Oct 24th- First Official Swim & Dive Practice • Oct 24th - Evening Open House and Apparel Meeting

  10. Practice Schedule • Practice Starts October 24th for Swim & Dive • SWIM: Mon, Wed, Thurs: 6:00am-7:15am at Cumming Aquatic Center Tues 6:30am-7:30am Conditioning at SFHS Track (weather permitting; conditioning ends after Holiday break) • DIVE: Tues, Fri: 6:00am-7:15am at CAC

  11. Athlete Expectations • You are a student-athlete, not an athlete-student. You must maintain satisfactory grades, attendance and attitude in all of your classes to participate with a minimum of 2.5 grade point average. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 courses. • 90% attendance is mandatory for lettering consideration. • Club swimmers must attend at least 3 club practices per week andat least 5 practices throughout the season. Failure to attend may jeopardize participation on the team. • If another high school sport overlaps swimming at the beginning of the season practices will not be mandatory until the prior sport has concluded.   13. Dues • Swim OR Dive- $375 • Swim & Dive- $400 • Additional $25 for Senior Athletes

  14. Pre-registration • Go to www.sofoswimming.com • On the left side, click “start registration”. • Follow prompts to register your athlete. This must be completed by October 1st for all interested athletes so that we can pre-order apparel and swimsuits. Payment will not be due until final rosters are released.

  15. What to do now? • Register at www.sofoswimming.com; registration does NOT guarantee a spot on the team. • Try on your suit. • Join the booster club! • Get your physicals turned in ASAP! You will not be allowed in the water until it is turned in. • Get in the water! Start training if you’re worried about making cuts! The CAC has open lanes every morning before school.
