Developing initiatives directed to HEALTH & HYGIENE caring for children and vulnerable families. We foster the development of a RECYCLING SYSTEM: Creating sustainable INFRAESTRUCTURE and, Developing RECYCLING HABITSwithin the population. We support initiatives directed to TRAIN STUDENTS ON CIVIL & ECONOMIC VALUES. We build EMPLOYABILITY for young people, in order to help them join the workforce. HOW WE DO IT

  5. II. Priorities FY16 Create better working opportunities for high school students in need. Help TECHO achieve habitat improvement in Pilar Fight against infectious diseases Increase levels of recycling Maintain program´s LYs performance

  6. III. CONTEXT Waste pickers serve as a key player in the waste management process. However, they largely lack organizational structure, formal recognition and legal rights. Waste Fraction is sorted manually in treatment plants by waste pickers More than 95% of local governments dispose their waste in open dumps. Lack of Material Market Information, Management, KPIs and transparency. Lack of Budget, Technical Capabilities and Human Recourses in local governments for waste treatment. Some companies have developed isolated initiatives with high costs and low impact on recycling rates. The growing waste management problem requires continued effort both by the Government and the community at large.

  7. IV. SCJ RECYCLES PROGRAM WHERE? ACTION LINES PROGRAM I. INFRASTRUCTURE Develop infrastructure in order to improve productivity in recycling system along with better working conditions for its workers GOVERNMENT II. HABITS Goal: Increase levels of recycling in an efficient and inclusive way Inspire others to incorporate recycling habits by transfering know-how regarding sustainability and recycling topics.

  8. IV. SCJ RECYCLES PROGRAM Outcomes FY16 II. HABITS I. INFRASTRUCTURE • SCHOOLS: Workshops in Environmental Education and Health addressed to young students and adults from Community Centers and Schools. • +5.500 students / teachers impacted • INSIDE SCJ: • Inventory of waste generated in offices, plant and Distribution Center. • Campaigns regarding environmental habits and waste sorting in the office. • Baseline study of our product´s current post-consumption recovery & recycling trail • Development of an aerosol recycling kit provided to pilot in 2 inclusive sorting plants • Continuous monitoring of KPIs vs 2015 Baseline • Work along with Local Governments: • Development of Recycling Systems • Cooperatives Empowerment (training, equipment) • Development of Recycling industry • SCJ joins CEMPRE* in Argentina, Chile & Uruguay. # CEMPRE is a group of companies that joined with the objective of promoting recycling

SCJ RECYCLES PROGRAM Next Steps FY17 • Participate in ECO-Points Network together with clients and other companies in order to raise awareness: • Plot 7 ECO-Points using SCJ´s logo • 2 ECO-points providing metal recycling containers • Empower 6 sorting plants with training & equipment (3 recycling kits implemented) • 10.000 kgs of tin treated and recovered • Develop social projects with NGOs and other companies where metal scrap is used (ex. social houses)
