What is Model United Nations? • Model UN is an opportunity for you debate and solve prevalent global issues, while expanding your knowledge of the UN. • As a member you will conduct research, write resolutions, master parliamentary procedure, and use your skills in diplomacy and debate to compete with other MUN participants at MUN conferences. • It is an exciting combination of role playing and debate!

  5. What is expected of our members? • Attend weekly meetings • Participate in lessons and mock-debates • Do research • Write Position Papers • Have FUN!!!

  10. How We Select Who Attends Conferences: • Regular attendance and participation • Seniority of club members • Number of applicants for conferences • When we receive your application

  12. MUNI: What it is? • Model United Nations Illinois • Annual high school conference • Club fundraiser • April 5th-7th, 2013 • General Assembly and Simulations • Up to 500 delegates from schools across the country

  13. MUNI: How you can participate • USG positions • Chief of Staff, Logistics, General Assembly, Publications / Public Relations, Simulations Director, and Operations • Applications at first meeting! • Interviews • Chairs • Support Staff

  16. PAY YOUR DUES! • $20.00 Membership Fee • Everyone Must Pay Dues (even returning members) • Good for the entire academic year! • If you don’t pay dues, you will not be able to participate in conferences = PAY ASAP!
