  3. 2.- foranactionwhichstarted in thepast and continues up tothepresent. e.g.Ms Nelson has taughtFrenchfor 20 years. (ShestartedteachingFrenchtwentyyearsago and sheisstillteachingFrenchtoday.)

  4. 3.- foranactionwhichstarted in thepast and mayberepeated. e.g. Ben isanathlete. He has won more than ten medals. (He isstillanathlete. He maywinsome more medals).

  5. 4.- for an action which happened whithin a specific time period which is not over at the moment of speaking. e.g. I’ve written two letters this morning. (The time period is not over).
