La comida • Molé • a sauce made with three kinds of chilis, almonds, raisins, cinnamon-flavored chocolate and sesame, covers turkey or chicken or fills enchiladas • Naranjas, manzanas y plátanos • Found locally and are part of la ofrenda (the offering to the dead)and the family feast • Tazas de chocolate y atole • Warm drink made from ground corn cooked in water • Pan de muertos • Anis flavored bread, appears in a remarkable variety of shapes from a basic bun to animal and human-like forms with sugar faces

10. Los Cempasuchil The most important flower associated with El Díade los Muertos is a type of marigold. Its golden yellow color and distinctive smell attract the souls towards the offering. People make paths of marigold petals from the ofrenda to the door or along the path to the cemetery to guide their relative’s souls

11. El cementerio Los Días de los Muertos are the days in which the families go to the graves of their close kin. At the gravesites family members engage in sprucing up the gravesite, decorating it with flower, setting our and enjoying a picnic and interacting socially with other family and community members who gather at the cemetery. Families remember the departed by telling stories about them. The meals prepared for these picnics are substantial, usually featuring meat spicy sauces and special egg-battered bread, cookies, chocolate and sugar confections in a variety of animal or skull shapes. Gravesites or family altars are profusely decorated with flowers adorned with religious amulets and with offerings of food
