Overall Community Objectives (Summary) • Build cross-vertical international communities • Help EUs understand and use Grids • Ensure that standards are cost effective for vendors to apply, then drive standards adoption • Identify and prioritize EU requirements and use cases, then drive them into the standards process

Community Objectives for GGF16 (1 of 2) • Create Community tracks (regional, enterprise and research) to build international communities • Increase community-oriented focus at GGF events • Use events as recruiting vehicle • Use Community sessions to promote long term membership and participation • Ensure meetings are well attended and of high value • Develop GGF value proposition and messaging to help build communities • Facilitate development of prototypes among the technical community to serve as inputs to the standards process • Seek-out and work with key leaders in the community (Ian, Charlie, Andrew, Karl, Steve) to help develop/deliver content • Use www.ggf.org site to drive content proposals as well as Community attendance • Develop Area-specific Community sessions • Develop sessions to build vertical communities around Telco, Pharma, Finance and Auto • Start capturing a voice of the community (VOC) for each vertical • Develop sessions to help EUs understand and use Grids • Enlist technologists and vendors to help articulate “how to” in use of Grid • Develop sessions to build major Grid project communities • E.g. NCOIC/W2COG, TeraGrid, UK eScience, EGEE (European particle physics), OSG (Open Science Grid) for USA, Bring back OGCE (Open Grid Computing environments), MSI’s (Minority Serving Institutions) • Develop regional sessions to contribute content relevant to the overall GGF community • Engage to CRNET as part of regional program • Engage European community as part of regional program

Community Objectives for GGF16 (2 of 2) • Develop sessions to engage vendors and open source communities • Ensure representation from Standards groups in order to provide communication path with Communities and ensure that standards are cost effective for vendors to apply • Develop sessions to drive standards adoption • Establish groups around specific functional areas • E.g. Data Management, Virtualization, Licensing, Ontologies, Semantic Web, DRM, Orchestration, Management, Utility Computing, Datacenter, Security, Infrastructure Management, Data Management, Apps Management, etc. • Build upon the success of GGF14 and GGF15 programs to drive continuous improvement and retain communities in the future • Use event survey to increase attendance and augment value delivered via GGF events • Identify returning community groups (e.g. Campus Grids) • Use survey results to drive improvements and guide content • Develop BKM for future events • Use GGF Community satisfaction survey to increase participation, and augment value delivered by of GGF
