    26. EdGCM Project Objectives Allow teachers to run a NASA global climate model on a desktop computer, encouraging students to participate in the full scientific process including: experiment design, running simulations, analyzing data and reporting results.

Facilitate collaborations between the education community and research institutions and among secondary schools and universities. In this way, students will become familiar with the role that teamwork plays in scientific research.

    28. Partnerships One of the things you will find unique about this project is the interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships that have been built into the project from the beginning. Each entity here brings a unique expertise to the overall program: Columbia University - GISS: leaders in COAGCM development and climate modeling studies Duke University - USGS: development of deep ocean temperature paleothermometry using Mg/Ca of ostracodes USGS: expertise in paleoclimate reconstruction and synthesis of paleoceanographic and paleogeographic data for use in climate modeling studies NSF: development and nurturing of VLSI science projects, in this case in the area of paleoclimate and global change.One of the things you will find unique about this project is the interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships that have been built into the project from the beginning.
