This document outlines the troubleshooting process for the IP-EXT16 device connection issues in relation to the KX-PT, KX-TDA0470, and PC interfaces. It covers multiple cases illustrating communication failures due to physical disconnection, incorrect IP address settings, unregistered device status, and protocol failures (ARP, PTAP, ICMP, and MGCP). Each case provides detailed technical insights, such as error messages like “POOR LAN CONNECTION” and “UNREGISTERED SERVER”, as well as the necessary actions to diagnose and resolve these network failures.

Case-1a (2/4) Power-ON IPL Starting... KX-NT136 Now Loading Searching... 20-30 sec POOR LAN CONNECTION keep retrying
Case-1a (3/4) ARP request MAC Address of IP-PT Protocol: ARP Source : KyushuMa_30:2f:80 Destination : Broadcast IP Address of IP-EXT Info: Who has 192.168.1.100? Tell 192.168.1.200 IP Address of IP-PT
Case-1a (4/4) (1) ARP(Address Resolution Protocol) was sent by IP-PT for finding the MAC address of IP-EXT. (2) But no response came from IP-EXT because it has physical connection problem. (3) After the several trial of ARP, IP-PT displayed “POOR LAN CONNECTION”.
Case-1b (1/6) IP address of IP-EXT16 was wrong at IP-PT setting. 192.168.1.100 Connection Request 192.168.1.10 is address of PC. IP-EXT16 KX-TDA0470 KX-NT136 PC Setup as PBX = 192.168.1.10

Case-1b (3/6) ARP response MAC Address of PC Protocol: ARP Source : Matsushi_2b:df:c3 MAC Address of IP-PT Destination : KyushuMa_30:2f:80 Info: 192.168.1.10 is at 00:80:45:2b:df:c3 MAC Address of PC
Case-1b (4/6) PTAP connection request Protocol: UDP IP Address of IP-PT Because PTAP is not the common protocol, it is displayed as UDP and unknown binary data. Source : 192.168.1.200 Destination : 192.168.1.10 PTAP Port of IP-PT IP Address of PC Info: Source port 9301 Destination port 9300 PTAP Port of IP-EXT
Case-1b (5/6) ICMP destination unreachable Protocol: ICMP IP Address of PC Source : 192.168.1.10 Destination : 192.168.1.200 Info: Destination unreachable IP Address of IP-PT
Case-1b (6/6) (1) ARP(Address Resolution Protocol) was sent by IP-PT for finding the MAC address of IP-EXT. (2) ARP was resolved by the answer from PC(wrong). (3) IP-PT sent PTAP(connection request) to PC(wrong). (4) Because PC can not respond the packet to port 9300, PC responded by ICMP to reject the packet from IP-PT. (5) Because the connection ACK by PTAP was not presented, “POOR LAN CONNECTION” was displayed .
Case-2 (1/5) In the Normal mode of IP-EXT16, unregistered IP-PT was started. Connection Request NAK IP-EXT16 KX-TDA0470 KX-NT136 PC
Case-3 (2/5) Power-ON IPL Starting... KX-NT136 Now Loading Searching... Searching…. UNREGISTERED SERVER keep retrying
Case-2 (3/5) PTAP connection request Protocol: UDP IP Address of IP-PT PTAP Port of IP-PT Source : 192.168.1.200 Destination : 192.168.1.100 Info: Source port 9301 Destination port 9300 PTAP Port of IP-EXT IP Address of IP-EXT
Case-2 (4/5) PTAP NAK Protocol: UDP IP Address of IP-EXT PTAP Port of IP-EXT Source : 192.168.1.100 Destination : 192.168.1.200 Info: Source port 9300 Destination port 9301 IP Address of IP-PT PTAP Port of IP-PT In case of NAK, the data size of PTAP response from IP-EXT is small.
Case-2 (5/5) (1) ARP(Address Resolution Protocol) was sent by IP-PT for finding the MAC address of IP-EXT. (2) ARP was resolved by the answer from IP-EXT. (3) IP-PT sent PTAP(connection request) to IP-EXT. (4) Because IP-PT was not registered, IP-EXT in Normal mode responded by NAK. (5) Because the connection NAK by PTAP was presented, “UNREGISTERED SERVER” was displayed .
Case-3 (1/7) In the Registration mode of IP-EXT16, unregistered IP-PT was started. Connection Request ACK IP-EXT16 KX-TDA0470 KX-NT136 PC
Case-3 (2/7) Power-ON IPL Starting... KX-NT136 Now Loading Searching... Searching…. Server Connecting... ON-Line
Case-3 (3/7) PTAP ACK Protocol: UDP IP Address of IP-EXT PTAP Port of IP-EXT Source : 192.168.1.100 Destination : 192.168.1.200 Info: Source port 9300 Destination port 9301 IP Address of IP-PT PTAP Port of IP-PT In case of ACK, the data size of PTAP response from IP-EXT is bigger.
