  8. The scriptural teachings about money and giving apply at all times and in all cultures. • Bread is made for laughter, and wine gladdens life, and money answers everything. (Ecclesiastes 10:19)

  9. But money answers nothing to the soul; it will not procure the pardon of sin, the favor of God, the peace of conscience; the soul is not redeemed, nor maintained, with corruptible things as silver and gold. • Matthew Henry

  10. If money is the answer, then what do we do with it? • Give • Save • Live

  11. THINGS MONEY CANNOT DO FOR YOU • -Money cannot give you a good marriage • Better is a little with the fear of the LORD Than great treasure and turmoil with it.- Prov 15:16 • Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife. Prov 17:1

  12. -Money cannot give your kids a better life. • One of the greatest assets you have for your kids is a strong, loving, Christ centered community. • - Money cannot give you real satisfaction

  13. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:25-26 ESV)

  14. -Money cannot make you generous • “In God’s economy, amount sacrificed always supersedes amount given.” (Art Ranier)

  15. -Money cannot get you to the point where you can focus on your spiritual life • We live with the assumption that “if it comes to me, it’s for me.”

  16. “How much of our wealth will we give to God?” • BUT • “How much of God’s wealth will we keep for ourselves?”

  17. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

  18. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8 ESV)

  19. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)

  20. Our biggest problem isn’t that we over value money or things, but that we UNDER VALUE Jesus.

  21. The cross shows us the depth of our sin, and the holiness and mercy of God. • The cross shows us the depth of Christ’s humility and His love for us. • The cross shows us the VALUE of Christ’s perfect life and death.

  22.  …knowing that you were not ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
