A CONFESSION OF SIN

“He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion” (Prov. 28:13). A CONFESSION OF SIN. Some confession is to “one another”, (Jas. 5:15) One confesses, and finds no comfort or forgiveness – doesn’t meet God’s conditions.

  1. “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion” (Prov. 28:13) A CONFESSION OF SIN

  2. Some confession is to “one another”, (Jas. 5:15) One confesses, and finds no comfort or forgiveness – doesn’t meet God’s conditions. Another confesses – and is lifted up. 7 main passages in lesson. All are the same, but all are different. This Confession is to God

  3. Pharaoh – Ex. 9:27 Hail and fire – such as had never… In a typhoon or falling aircraft we make promises to God. Promises made in a storm, die in the calm. Jonah on the ship. Paul also. Any like this here? Seeking relief, not forgiveness. The Hardened Sinner

  4. Balaam – Numbers 22:34 Knows the danger – but sin is so rewarding. “To good and evil equal bent…” Num. 23:8ff prophesies truly of Israel and Jesus – but Rev. 2:14. Matt. 6:24 two masters, or two masters. Some are righteous with the righteous, and wicked with the wicked. No confession is valid unless genuine. The Double Minded Sinner

  5. Saul – I Sam. 15:24 Very similar to Balaam, but w/o conscience. Molded by circumstances. Confession with a “reason”. “The people…” Animals for sacrifice. Kill David or praise him? Circumstances dictate. We come with tears – but they dry quickly. The Insincere Sinner

  6. Achan – Joshua 7:20 Jewish Mishna indicates earthly punishment, but not eternal. Note the tenderness of Joshua. Others deem him lost. “Doubtful”. Death bed confessions. Confess when “caught”. Best to die with Assurance – 2 Peter 1:5-11 The Doubtful Penitent

  7. Judas – Matt. 27:4 No hope in him. Is his repentance genuine? Is his sorrow heartfelt? Many in this life like him. Heb. 10:29 Avoidance is best solution. Repentance of Despair

  8. Job. 7:20 All of us have sinned. Do we have to read Rom. 3:23? Or I John 1? David in the penitential Psalms. (51, 32). Repentance Of The “Saint”

  9. The prodigal – Luke 15:18 You know the story – one of our favorites. Despair – but realization – HOME. Does he beg his way from town to town? On a hill overlooking; summons courage, but Father sees him and runs to him. The Blessed Confession

  10. Eyes of mercy Legs of mercy Arms of mercy Kisses of mercy Words of mercy “I have sinned”. Which are you?
