  4. Our Area Dover is the Capital of Delaware, the “First State”, located in Kent County. Founded in 1683, Dover is a historic citystill connected to its heritage with many Colonial and Victorian style homes and a quaint downtown Main Street USA shopping area. Dover is a smaller city than Wilmington, with a population around 34,000 and centrally located allowing for quick access to the Delaware sea shore and major cities such as: Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Baltimore. Dover is a thriving city where residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional development continues at a stable rate. Dover supports four school districts and five colleges.

  5. Our History First Baptist Church Dover was founded in 1850 with the first corner stone laid on The Dover Green. By 1893 membership required a larger facility, built only a few streets over. The church on Bradford and Division streets served the congregation for nearly 100 years. In July 15, 1990 the congregation moved to the new facility on Walker Road.

  6. Who We Are We profess that God through Jesus Christ calls us to be: • Redeemed people • Biblical people • Worshiping people • Mission people • Interdependent people • Caring people • Inclusive people • Contemporary people

  7. We worship the triune God of the Bible, who is eternally one God in three persons. This one, true God is most clearly revealed to us in the incarnate Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We proclaim the Good News of the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, knowing that salvation (forgiveness of sins, release from guilt and condemnation, reconciliation with God) and eternal life are granted in grace to all who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This Gospel is the central message of the Bible. We believe that the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God, the final written authority and trustworthy for faith and practice. It is to be interpreted responsibly under the guidance of the Holy Spirit within the community of faith. The primary purpose of the Bible is to point to Jesus Christ, the living Lord of the Church.

  8. Our Church Life Sunday school starts at 9:30am, with a choice of five adult classes, and several youth classes based on age or grade. Fellowship time starts at 10:30am, and is a great time to meet and greet one another in our fellowship hall. Worship and children’s church begin at 11:00am.
