Exploring WFBC Membership The Requirements of Membership • Baptism-immersion • Letter- from our sister Baptist Church. • Statement- anyone who comes before the church with a public testimony of their faith in Jesus as Savior. Giving satisfactory evidence of having been scripturally baptized • Restoration: Due to church discipline Wooton First Baptist Church

  8. Our Purpose Statement • Our purpose is to: • Exalt the Savior • Evangelize the lost • Enlist the saved for church membership • Edify the saints • Engage in ministry in the community Wooton First Baptist Church

  9. Our Faith Statement • The Bible is God’s Holy Word. It is the basis for what we believe and what we do • The Bible teaches us what to believe about: • God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), man, salvation, the church, baptism & Lord’s Supper, the Lord’s Day, the kingdom of God, the Second Coming of Christ and the end of the World, evangelism and missions, Christian education, stewardship, cooperation, the Christian and the social order, peace and war, religious liberty, and how to live the abundant Christian life.   10. The Vision: 2013 And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47b, NIV Goal =Church Attendance Avg of 75 by December 2013 Grow our Sunday School Program to 50 by July Provide an effective ministry to the entire family Wooton First Baptist Church

Our Missions Giving • 10% of all regular offerings to world missions through the Cooperative Program (state, home, foreign) • 4% of all regular offerings to associational missions through Three Forks Baptist Association • Special Mission Offerings • Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions • Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions • State Missions Offering • Local Missions (benevolence, other) Wooton First Baptist Church

What Is Expected of Members? • To protect the unity of our church • by acting in love toward other members • Romans 14:19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.(NIV) • 1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. (NIV) • by refusing to gossip • Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (NIV) • by following the spiritual leaders • Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. What Is Expected of Members? • To share the responsibility of your church • by praying for its growth • 1 Thessalonians. 1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; (KJV) • by inviting the unchurched to attend • Luke 14:23 "Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled’.” (NKJV) • by warmly welcoming those who visit • Romans 15:7 So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified. What Is Expected of Members? • To serve the ministry of your church • by discovering your spiritual gifts & talents • 1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. (NIV) • by being equipped to serve • Ephesians 4:11-12 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (NIV) • by developing a servant’s heart • Philippians 2:4-7 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. What Is Expected of Members? • To support the testimony of your church • by attending faithfully • Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (NIV) • by living a godly life • Philippians 1:27a Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (NIV) • by giving regularly • 1 Corinthians 16:2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. (NIV) • Leviticus 27:30 "'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. (NIV) Wooton First Baptist Church
