  2. The Purpose…. • The purpose of the baseball/softball glove is to help the player catch the ball • and protect the hand.

  3. Inventor… • One of the first players to use a baseball glove was Doug Allison, a catcher for the Cincinnati Red Stockings, in 1870, due to an injured left hand.Thefirst confirmed glove use was by Charlie Waitt, a St. Louis outfielder/first baseman who in 1875 donned a pair of flesh-colored gloves. Glove use slowly caught on as more players began using different forms of gloves.

  4. Use… • It was originally used to make this easier for the players to catch and to protect the hand. • It is still used that way today.

  5. Innovations… • There are no innovations that we know of. They have always been leather. Innovations

  6. Technology Classification.. • This product is classified as production, which includes manufacturing and construction.

  7. Impacts… (positive) • This product impacted society in a positive way because….. • It’s a safety precaution for catching the ball because the padding protects the hand • The glove helps the player to catch a ball.

  8. Impacts… (negative) • This product has only impacted the society in a positive way.

  9. Quote…. • "He confessed that he was a bit ashamed to wear it..." • He said he was a little ashamed to wear the glove at first. Then he got used it it when it began to come into style. Now everyone that plays softball or baseball wears the glove for safety and to help with catching.
