  1. I GLOVE Project By Corin Harper

  2. What is The I GLOVE The i glove is a portable practical midi instrument which means that it can transmit musical information to be reproduced in a series of values which represent either pitch, volume or duration. The glove will be small and practically designed mainly around being compatible with the i phone as a future technology. The main premise of the product is how top take it to the next level. For example wireless and interactive capabilities .

  3. components • The glove consists of a midi controller The arduinoduemilanove which is simple open platform for building a variety electronics. • A glove with sensors built in to the finger tips attached to the CUI which will be built in to the wrist section of the glove making it as compact as possible as the glove will have the ability to source power from the built in usb input.

  4. components continued • Many similar midi instruments that i have researched are not very compact and require an external power source or battery pack. The glove also consists of a number of resistors. A midi connector, a switch hookup wire prototyping breadboard and sensors.

  5. PRODUCT RESEARCH • When I developed the idea it seemed to be an original concept but with further research it was evident that similar products have been produced such as eric singers midi glove from 1999. – mainly for performance art etc • As his product was so similar I emailed him about how to take the product further and he sent me a link to an electronic social network site which as well as being useful for networking helped me get experienced opinions on the product and how to develop it. • http://www.mfiles.co.uk/film-electronic.htm • Project Management in New Product Development  By Bruce Barkley

  6. The Aim of my project • The main aims of my project are one to create a working prototype of the glove as well as in depth research of how to develop it. Possibly with a second prototype using custom printed circuit boards. Research into target audience in terms of types of advertising and product placement.- viral advertising Creating a succesfull advertising camaign including 3 short videos product photos , logos and posters. Document progress in the form of a blog and log book http://iglove.wordpress.com/

  7. Other examples of logo designs

  8. What I have done • So far I have spent most my time trying to perfect my advertising campaign as it is one of the most important parts. Succesfuly documented progress through the use of a blog and log book • I have managed to edit my first animation including recording the audio , as well as a number of photo montages mimicking the Nike slogan just do it • I have made a questionnaire which has been completed by various participants • Some example of the questions that I have used in my questionnaire are – 1. Age? 2. Do you make your own music? 3. would you buy external hardware for creating music? • I have found most participants would want the glove to be compatible with other platforms such as games consoles.

  9. What's left for me to do? • There are two major parts of my project left to do. • The first part is to complete the final prototype • Chosen sensors • programming • Any developments to design • Further research into future possibilities • The final part to my project is to get the advertising campaign completed along with dvd an commentary as well as the final summary of the product such as how effective it is etc and any improvements that can be acheived within the time scape.

  10. How I will analyse my results • I will analyse my results by looking at both questionnaires • Is it complete, did i forget something? • Do i need to collect more data? • Summarise data • I will be looking to see if the product as a whole has been effective • Designing another questionaire on the effectiveness of the advertising campaign and product. Organising results into a table and or graph. assesing how participants interact with the actual product and how it can be made more effective.

  11. Ways to successfully balance my time • In order for me to become more organised with the project I have made myself a plan and time schedule. • I have allocated specific times of the week to certain things. For example I have allocated time during the day to be working in the lab rooms continuing with my short adverts and logos as well as allocated time in the evening to be doing more research and work on the final prototype. • Through making a plan I will be more organised with my work and will be able to meet my own deadlines.

  12. Progress • Overall, I feel the work I have completed at this stage is of a good amount. I have successfully recorded and edited my first animation and have started to finish off my first prototype. I am now at the stage where many different components are finally coming togeather and is necessary to effectively manage my time
