  2. Present Passive Participles запоминать (remember) – запоминаемый легко запоминаемые слова easily remembered words забывать (forget) - забываемый незабываемый вечер an unforgettable evening

  3. Present Passive Participles are formed from present-tense imperfective transitive verbs (transitive = can take a direct object) 1st person plural + adjective endings уважать мы уважаемуважаемый to respectrespected читать мы читаемчитаемый to read being read

  4. Present Passive Participles are used mainly in “formal” Russian; but these PPPs are now used as adjectives любимый (favorite) незабываемый (unforgettable) независимый (independent) необходимый (necessary) так называемый (so called) уважаемый (dear [in letters], respected)

  5. Past Passive Participles признать (recognize) – признанный всемирно признанная балерина universally recognized ballerina забыть (forget) - забытый давно забытая мелодия long forgotten melody

  6. Past Passive Participles are formed from perfective transitive verbs 3 possible suffixes -Т- -HH- -EHH/ЁНН- открытый сделанный поставленный open done produced/staged занятый прочитанный украденный occupied/busy (having been) read stolen

  7. Past Passive Participles Use Instrumental case with Passive Participles to indicate the agent (by someone/with something): Опера, написанная Чайковским. Балет, поставленный Баланшиным. Фотография, сделанная моей сестрой. Дверь, открытая ключом.

  8. Past Passive Participles-Т- 1st(e/ё) conjugation verbs with infinitives in –ить or –ыть; 1st conjugation verbs with-H- or -M- in their conjugation. TO FORM: remove -ь from the infinitive & add adjective ending занять (to occupy) занят +ый/ая/ое/ые (busy) открыть (to open) открыт +ый/ая/ое/ые (open)

  9. Past Passive Participles-HH- 1st(e/ё) conjugation verbs with infinitives in –aть (except those with-H- or -M- in their conjugation) TO FORM: remove -ть from the infinitive, add -нн- +adjective ending сделать (to do) сдела +-нн- +ый/ая/ое/ыесделанный, сделанная, etc. (done, completed) прочитать (read) прочита +-нн- +ый/ая/ое/ые прочитанный, прочитанная, etc. ([having been] read)

Past Passive Participles-EHH-/ -ЁHH- 2nd(и) conjugation verbs with infinitives in –ить; 1st(e/ё) conjugation verbs with infinitives in -сти(-сть)or -зти; TO FORM: remove –у/ю from the 1st-person singular (я) form & add -eнн-/-ённ- +adjective ending поставить (to stage) я поставлю  поставл +-енн- +ый/ая/ое/ые поставленный, поставленная, поставленное, поставленные украсть (to steal) я украду украд +-енн- +ый/ая/ое/ые украденный, украденная, украденное, украденные
