Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Ensure that all students demonstrate relevant information, communications, and technology competencies necessary for digital-age literacy. • Provide instructional staff development, direction and support for campus-based staff who implement the Technology Applications and library curricula: CITs, librarians, CTFs, ECTs, and Technology Applications teachers. • Expand implementation of online technology literacy assessments to additional middle school students and campuses in order to meet NCLB goals. • Coordinate the District-wide spring Digital Media Fair. 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Infuse appropriate instructional technologies throughout the curriculum to engage students, differentiate instruction, and strengthen learning and achievement. • Complete Technology Bond lifecycle deployments at 22 campuses. • Complete ceiling-mounted classroom projector deployments at 52 campuses. • Complete wireless implementations at 29 campuses. • Expand and/or support student-based instructional technology initiatives, including eClassroom, virtual high school courses, Federated Search, online benchmarks, credit retrieval, classroom iPods, eBooks, and online databases. 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Provide appropriate staff development opportunities that meet the needs of diverse learners in order to promote continuous growth of technology competencies expected for successful job performance. • Complete a stakeholder review and update of the Employee Technology Competencies, promote District-wide, then explore assessment options to satisfy NCLB requirements. • Provide educator training and resources for NISD-emerging technologies (classroom projectors, iPods, eBooks, online databases, etc.) • Provide training to employees on NISD-standard applications, in a variety of settings and formats (QUAD, Training on Wheels, NETT, online, etc.). • Coordinate the District-wide summer eCamp. • Provide professional development specifically for District leadership (Cabinet, Instructional Directors, Principals, etc.) to continue nurturing a culture of continuous educational technology innovation in our schools. 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Implement and support research-based, integrated technology systems and solutions that aid in decision-making and fulfilling instructional and operational requirements. • Support the implementation of a new Business/HR Management System. • Acquire and begin implementation of a new Enterprise Content Management System. • Complete the acquisition of a Data Warehouse and begin implementation. • Complete the implementation of a new electronic District-wide Textbook Management System and provide ongoing textbook support. 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • CONTINUED … • Implement R-TIME, a new electronic system and process to submit and process a “Request for Technology and Instructional Materials Evaluation.” • Expand and/or support new and existing educational technology initiatives (N-Time, cafeteria Point of Sale, WebEx, CMS, TREx, gradebook, Sirsi, etc.). • Coordinate and support the expansion of Parent Connection (discipline data, online payments, news and resources, etc.). • Complete secondary schools’ ISMS (integrated security management system) implementation (3 special schools, 3 middle schools, add cameras at 8 high schools). 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Develop, implement, monitor and adjust plans and policies that address technology priorities, standards, access, and use. • Expand training plans and practices for technology staff, to include additional internal cross-training, cross-learning, and collaboration. • Continue to develop, support and advance campus, teacher and library web page standards. • Monitor and support Acceptable Use, to include personal laptops on the NISD Wi-Fi. • Continuously review, update, and promote technology Administrative Regulations and Board Policies to support instructional and operational best practices. 2008-2009 Activities

Technology Strategic Plan 2008-2013 Pardners in Education • Ensure access to reliable and well-supported technology and network systems to meet current and emerging needs. • Continue planning and implementation of disaster recovery, including developing a written Disaster Recovery Plan. • Implement a new self-service password synchronization and reset system. • Acquire and implement a Software Distribution/Delivery system to expedite software installations. • Complete the Active Directory migration at 21 campuses and all District departments. • Continuously review, design, and implement infrastructure and network enhancements to meet instructional and operational needs for voice, video, and data. 2008-2009 Activities
