  2. Getting Around • Norwegians rely mainly on cars. • They pay one of the highest prices for gas - five dollars per gallon. • To get across fjords in Norway, many people use ferries.

  3. Land and Climate • Norway is located on the northwest of the Scandinavian Peninsula. • Almost one third of the of the country is located north of the Arctic Circle. • The Scandinavian Mountains stretch across big parts of Norway and many areas are rugged.

  4. Schools • Norwegian children start school at 6 years old. • Norwegian kids learn English starting in the first grade. • After 10th grade , students pick a course of study and attend a specialized high school.

  5. Interesting facts about Norway • Viking leader Herald the fair head became supreme leader over a unified kingdom in what is now Norway around 872. • For breakfast they eat open face cheese or ham sandwiches. • Many Norwegians can ski cross- country. Skiing is especially popular.

  6. Skiing • Norwegians have been skiing for thousands of years. • Early on, people didn’t ski for fun. It was just a way get around when it snowed. • Norway is one of the worlds centers for ice- skating and skiing.
