LOCATION Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, comprises the western part of Scandinavia in Northern Europe.This countryis divided into 5 regions and 19 provinces which are further divided into 433 municipalities. Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometers and population of about 4.8 million and it is bordered with Finland, Sweden and Russia. The capital city of Norway is Oslo. Oslo

  3. Norway is the least, after Iceland, populated European country. The average population density is 14.7 inhabitants per 1 km2. The population is concentrated mainly in the southern part of the country, and on the coasts. Oslo is the biggest conurbation. The average population density is 3,787 persons per km2. The average life expectancy in Norway is 78.7 years. Literacy has been acquired almost 100% of the population and almost all the people have completed secondary education. About population

  4. Climate South and central Norway is located in a maritime temperate's climate, and the north (the Arctic Circle) in the moderate. In some areas the snow persists all year-round, and the temperature reaches -30 ° C.

  5. Industry and politics Norway is a highly developed and industrialized country, often cited as one of the richest countries in the world. Norway has rich resources of oil, natural gas, hydroelectric power, forests, and minerals, and was the second largest exporter of seafood. Other major industries include shipping, food processing, shipbuilding, mining, fishing, and paper products from forests. Norway is a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, with King Harald V as it’s head of state and Jens Stoltenberg as its prime minister.

  6. Nature Norway has endless attractions of nature. Fjords, which are formed in the glacial period, are unique in the world. Norway is a country of mighty rivers and waterfalls. Nature and forest cover little more than a quarter of the country.

  7. FOOD Norwegian cuisine is different from the rest of the world cuisine. The main dish is fish. The main kind of fish used in the kitchen is a cod. Specialties of this cuisine are also salted herring (served with a glass of vodka), salmon and trout, and seafood. Norwegian kitchen is also rich in dairy products.

  8. Language The North Germanic Norwegian language has two official written forms, Bokmål and Nynorsk. Both of them are recognized as official languages since they are both used in public administration, in schools, churches, and media, but Bokmål is used by the vast majority, about 85–90%. Around 95% of the population speak Norwegian as their mother tongue, although many speak dialects that may differ significantly from the written language.
