  3. Daily Schedule • 8:00-10:00 Language Arts • 10:00-11:30Math • 11:34-12:04 Lunch • 12:05-12:20 Recess • 12:25-1:05 Science/Social Studies • 1:10-2:00 Specials • 2:00-2:10 Read Aloud

  4. Math • Math • Math Standards • Multiplication facts • Guided Math • Ask questions

  5. Reading/Language Arts • Language Arts • Reading: Always have a chapter book at school • Reading Stamina • Status of the Class

  6. Science • Science Content • STEM

  7. Social Studies • Social Studies Content • Turn of the Century Wax Museum • More than one resource used for lessons

  8. Homework • 50 minutes of homework may be assigned nightly, not including • Reading nightly • Studying for a test • Completing a project • Quality, not quantity (Speeding Ticket) • Homework is not completed for a subject grade, but it is part of the work/study grade on the report card.

  9. Classwork • Classwork should be completed when assigned. • Additional time may be given throughout the day. • Cursive/print • All classwork can be collected for a grade. • Late work may be accepted, but only for partial credit.

  10. Agenda • Signature required nightly-responsibility of the student • Students are responsible for completely writing what is assigned on the agenda. • Consequences and Rewards for Behavior/Work Study Habits (Class DoJo)

  11. School Times • School starts at 7:50 AM • Students must check in at the school office before coming to class if they arrive after that time. • No checkout after 1:45- per the office • Attendance protocol *3 unexcused absences – email sent *5 unexcused absences- letter sent *7 unexcused absences- social worker

Why Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)? • Assists student learning experience • Students have a choice in their learning style and needs (differentiation) • Student engagement • Learning beyond the classroom space • Allows for more small group teaching and learning • Communication and collaboration among students

  15. How will the devices be used in the classroom? • Projects • Research • Response device for assessments • Presentations • Access to fiction and nonfiction books online

What are the responsibilities of the student? • Students should only use device for the purpose of the activity put forth (for example, research) • If device is being used for other reasons (games, not an educational purpose, taking pictures of students and sending to friends) it can be taken away • While communicating on educational Internet sites, students must treat everyone with respect; just like in a classroom setting (digital citizenship will be discussed in class) • Students are responsible for his/her own device (cases or covers are recommended)*Cobb County is not liable for stolen, lost or damaged devices • Students should have devices charged and ready for use • Using devices to record, transmit, or post photos or videos to Facebook, Youtube, etc.,

  17. What is acceptable use of the device? • Students may only access the internet using the CCSD BYOD wireless network. • Students may use their devices when under the supervision of a BYOD teacher. • Students may not use their devices during state or district testing.

  18. The school reserves the right to inspect a student’s personal device if there is a reason to believe that the student has violated Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, or has engaged in other misconduct while using their personal devices AND any violation of policies, procedures, or rules may result in the loss of use of the device.

  19. VOLUNTEERS? • Photography Parent- take photos at class and school events to submit to yearbook committee • Box Tops Parent- minimal time commitment
