This presentation outlines the design criteria and essential factors for the development of conventional facilities for the MMF project. It covers site location, facility design, space requirements, environmental stability conditions including temperature and humidity control, and utility requirements. We emphasize vital aspects like vibration limits, adequate ceiling height, and accessibility for equipment delivery. The document also details the specific uses of the facilities, including areas for undulator magnet tuning and cradle assembly, ensuring efficient operation within an existing building.

Facility Design Criteria • Facility Use • Space Requirements • Environmental Stability • Temperature +/- 0.1 deg. C. • Humidity • Vibration <0.5 microns • Utility Requirements • Electrical • Other
MMF Facility Uses • Undulator magnet tuning – 2 magnet measuring machine test stands • Aligned with same orientation to Earth’s magnetic field as LCLS Undulator Hall. • Undulator fiducialization – large coordinate measuring machine • Cradle assembly area • Magnet storage/temperature acclimation • Work desks in lab and office space for 2 employees
Resultant Building Criteria • ~4800 sq. ft. floor space (inc. ~3000 laboratory space) + mezzanine • Locate within an existing building to aid in temperature control • Adequate ceiling height for overhead cranes • Accessible for magnet delivery using trucks and forklifts • Availability of required utilities, esp. electrical service – 600A, 480v 3f
