IASC Weekly in 2005Strengthening Inter-Agency Networks • An opportunity to strengthen informal networks in the humanitarian community • Regular meetings with a very broad representation • 38 IASC Weekly meetings, 4 NGO - IASC Monthly meetings • 72 presenters from 21 different agencies • On average more than 25 participants • No other forum brings together so many UN and Non-UN humanitarian partners throughout the year Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)

IASC Weekly in 2005Facilitating Information Sharing • A forum for regular inter-agency information sharing and discussions on humanitarian issues • Altogether 97 different agenda items • Countries and regions • Briefings and discussions on 37 countries or regions • Recurring and burning crises • Other inter-agency concerns • Common humanitarian policies and initiatives • No other forum covers such a broad range of issues throughout the year Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)

IASC Weekly in 2006Planning for 2006 • IASC Weekly meetings will continue to prove their relevance • Maintaining a strong country focus • The IASC Working Group agreedthat country specific discussions, based on the Early Warning – Early Action Report, should partly take place at IASC Weekly meetings. • The IASC Working Group also suggested that IDP issues raised by the RSG on HR of IDPs could be addressed at IASC Weekly Meetings • IASC Weekly meetings will remain a key mechanism to build and strengthen networks between UN and Non-UN humanitarian partners.
