  2. A • Abraham Lincoln –He was the 16th president of the united states .He guided his country through the most devastating things in national history .

  3. B • Boston tea party – The royal whose house had been destroyed by stamp act protesters ,refused to let ships turn back .On December 16 a group of men disguised as Mohawks and armed with hat chest marched to the wharves .At midnight they boarded the ships and threw 342 chests of tea over board .

  4. D • Declaration of independence - The declaration of independence states what Jefferson and many Americans thought were universal principles .it begins with a description of traditional English political rights .

  5. C • – Southern democrats blocked Kenny's civil right bill . Johnson eventually persuaded congress to pass the civil rights act of 1964 ,which outlawed discrimination in haring banned segregation .

  6. E • Eighth Amendment – The congress and several states shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate leg isolation .

  7. F • First amendment – freedom of speech ,freedom of religion , of press .

  8. G • Great awakening – From 1720s through the 1740s religious revival called the great awakening swept through the colonies.

  9. H • House of Burgess-Ten towns in the colony each sent two representatives called burgesses to an assembly . The assembly had the right to make local laws .

  10. I • Impeachment- the house of representatives can impeach or bring formal charges against, any federal official it suspects of wrong doing or misconduct.

  11. J • Jefferson Thomas- Presidential term was 1809 he lived to 1743 through 1826He was Born in Virginia .He was elected from Virginia . The party he represent was republican

  12. K • Korean War –The cold war has not limited to Europe .In 1949 Moa Zedong formed a new communist government in China .shortly afterward ,American troops found themselves fighting Mao's forces in Korea .

  13. L Lexington and concord –At dawn the redcoats approached Lexington. When they reached the center of the town they discovered a group of about 70 minutemen who had been alerted by Revere and Dawes .Led by captain John Parker,the minutemen had positioned themselves on the town common with muskets in hand.

  14. M • Mo hawks –The Iroquois lived near Canada in what is now northern New York State .There were five Iroquois groups or nations: the Onondaga ,the Seneca , the Mohawk ,the Oneida, and the Cayuga.

  15. N • North-During the war prices rose faster than wages in the north .the inflation a general increase in prices –caused great hardship for working people .

  16. O • Oklahoma Territory-The last part of the plains to be settle was the Oklahoma Territory ,which congress had designated as "Indian Territory” in the 1830’s

  17. P • Parks ,Rosa – In December 1955 a woman was arrested in Montgomertry , Alabama, for refusing to leave a section of a bus reserved for white people. Shortly afterward ,African Americans in Alabama began to boycott.

  18. Q • Quakers –William Penn belonged to a protestant group of dissenters called a society of friends, or Quakers. The Quakers believed that every individual had an inner light that cold guide him or her to salvation.

  19. R • Revivals- The new religious movement began with frontier camp meetings called revivals .

  20. S • Second amendment-a well regulated militia ,begin necessary to the security of a free state ,the right of the people to keep and bear arms .

  21. T • Tubman, Harriet-Some enslaved African American tried to runaway to the north .a few succeeded like Harriet Tubman .

  22. U • Utah territory –Young decided the Mormons should move again, this time near the great salt lake in present-day Utah.

  23. V • Veto- to reject a bill and prevent it from becoming a law.

  24. W • War hawks –Republican during Madison's presidency who pressed for a war with Britain.

  25. XYZ • Xyz affair-Referring to the three French agents as x,y,z,the president urged congress to prepare for war .The incident became known as the xyz affair.
