Oil for New Hampshire Adam Scala
How Energy Comes From Oil • 1st used radar to find large oil deposits • 2nd drill into the ground pump crude oil out into tanks • 3rd bring oil to plants where it is burned • 4th heat turns water to steam • 5th steam turns turbine which generates electricity.
Price of Energy • $103.31 per barrel • $119 in next year • 610 kWh per barrel of oil • 19-20 cents per kWh • Used graph to predict that in 2012 use 13,040 million kWh • That means 21,377,049 barrels of oil if 100% energy from oil
Price of Energy Continued • Used this graph to figure that 10% NH energy comes from oil • $ 2,150,000 in 2010
Would We Be Selfish • USA consumes 19.8 million barrels of oil a day • If double our oil consumption then use 4,275,409 barrels A YEAR • 1:1689(we use one barrel US uses 1689) everyday
Advantages • Exists • Others asking for millions of dollars we don’t have or research • Doesn’t make sense when infrastructure for Oil is already set up • Don't spend extra setting something(nuclear plants, hydro-dam, coal mines, ) up • Just ask for more then right a bigger check
The Citizens View • People understand it • Easier taxes for it • Asking for $ for oil easier than nuclear fusion, geothermal, biomass • Are they going to give us $ for something they understand or don't
