  3. Satire is both HUMOROUS & CRITICAL But also aims to improve HUMANITY.

  6. Things To Think About While You Read • WHO or WHAT is being satirized? • HOW is satire being used? • What method(s)? • What is the overall TONE of the satire?

  7. Who / What? • Institutions • Church, Education, Government, Marriage, etc. • People • Celebrities, Politicians, Yourself, etc. • Controversial topics • BP Oil Spill, Healthcare Plan, Technology, etc.

Assignment • Think of an example of modern use of satire • Bring something in if you can! • Write a short summary including the three important aspects of satire that we have discussed in class • This should be one page, double-spaced, 12-pt Times New Roman • Be prepared to discuss your classmate’s ideas and findings tomorrow!
