The Controversy • The placement and size of the WW2 memorial were at the center of many arguments around the time its design was being debated on. • People thought the fact that it was being placed right on the mall took away from it and everything else that came before it. • The size of the memorial was also under debate. The large marble columns surrounding the memorial were deemed as too big and bulky.

  3. There were also several key mistakes in the memorial: • An inscription from Roosevelt's speech on the memorial was misprinted • There was a wrong date regarding Japans surrender _______________________________________ Unlike many critics, I happen to love the WW2 memorial. I think its aesthetically pleasing and its design is beautiful. I like how all of the states were acknowledged and the wall in the back serves for clear nostalgia.
