READ: JUDGES 1:34-36 34 The Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountains, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley; 35 The Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim; yet when the strength of the house of Joseph became greater, they were put under tribute. 36 The boundary of the Amorites was from the Ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela, and upward. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines. 2 Then He defeated Moab. Forcing them down to the ground, he measured them off with a line. With two lines he measured off those to be put to death, and with one full line those to be kept alive. So the Moabites became David's servants, and brought tribute. NKJV (1 CHRONICLES 18:1-13)

READ: 2 KINGS 3:4-5 4 Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and he regularly paid the king of Israel one hundred thousand lambs and the wool of one hundred thousand rams. 5 But it happened, when Ahab died, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. READ: 2 KINGS 14:5-10 5 Now it happened, As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he executed his servants who had murdered his father the king. 6 But the children of the murderers he did not execute, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which the LORD commanded, saying, “Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall be put to death for his own sin.” 7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel to this day.

READ: 2 KINGS 14:8-10 8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us face one another in battle.” 9 Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife’; and a wild beast that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle. 10 You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in that, and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall — you and Judah with you?” NKJV

READ: 2 KINGS 19:5-7 5 The servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. 6 Isaiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to your master, Thus says the LORD: ‘Do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.’ 7 ‘Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.’ NKJV

READ: 2 CHRONICLES 32:22-23 22 The LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side. 23 Many brought gifts to the LORD at Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations thereafter. READ: NUMBERS 21:10-13 10 The children of Israel moved on and camped in Oboth. 11 They journeyed from Oboth and camped at Ije Abarim, in the wilderness which is east of Moab, toward the sunrise. 12 From there they moved and camped in the Valley of Zered. 13 From there they moved and camped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that extends from the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. READ: NUMBERS 21:26 26 Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. NKJV

Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle. 25 This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the nations under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you. NKJV READ: DEUTERONOMY 2:36 36 From Aroer which is on the bank of the River Arnon and from the city that is in the ravine, as far as Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us; the LORD our God delivered all to us. READ: DEUTERONOMY 3:8-10 8 We took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were on this side of the Jordan from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon 9 The Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion. The Amorites call itSenir 10 All the cities of the plain, all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. NKJV

He has given his sons as fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, To Sihon king of the Amorites. NKJV READ: JEREMIAH 48:19-20 19 O inhabitant of Aroer, Stand by the way and watch; Ask him who flees And her who escapes; Say, What has happened? 20 Moab is shamed, for he is broken down. Wail and cry! Tell it in Arnon, that Moab is plundered. NKJV

READ: ISAIAH 16:3-5 3 "Take counsel, execute judgment; Make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day; Hide the outcasts, Do not betray him who escapes. 4 Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. For the extortioner is at an end, Devastation ceases, The oppressors are consumed out of the land. 5 In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness."

WHAT WAS MOAB TO DO FOR THE REMNANT? WHY? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE EXTORTIONER AND OPPRESSOR? WHAT THRONE WILL BE ESTABLISHED? WHO WILL SIT ON THIS THRONE?

READ: 1 KINGS 18:1-6 1 It came to pass after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab and I will send rain on the earth.” 2 Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria. 3 Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house. Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly. 4 For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water. 5 Ahab had said to Obadiah, “Go into the land to all the springs of water and to all the brooks; perhaps we may find grass to keep the horses and mules alive, so that we will not have to kill any livestock.” 6 They divided the land between them to explore it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself. For the extortioner is at an end, Devastation ceases, The oppressors are consumed out of the land. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE EXTORTIONER AND OPPRESSOR? READ: PROVERBS 14:11 11 The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish. NKJV READ: PROVERBS 20:27-30 27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. 28 Mercy and truth preserve the king, And by loving-kindness he upholds his throne. 29 The glory of young men is their strength, And the splendor of old men is their gray head. 30 Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, As do stripes the inner depths of the heart. READ: DANIEL 7:14 14 To Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the oneWhich shall not be destroyed. NKJV READ: MICAH 4:6-8 6 “In that day,” says the LORD, ”I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast And those whom I have afflicted;” 7 “I will make the lame a remnant, And the outcast a strong nation; So the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even forever.” 8 “And you, O tower of the flock, The stronghold of the daughter of Zion, To you shall it come, Even the former dominion shall come, The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.” NKJV

READ: LUKE 1:30-33 30 The angel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” 31 “Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and shall call His name JESUS.” 32 “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.” 33 “He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” NKJV

READ: JOB 20:4-8 4 Do you not know this of old, Since man was placed on earth, 5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment? 6 Though his haughtiness mounts up to the heavens, And his head reaches to the clouds, 7 Yet he will perish forever like his own refuse; Those who have seen him will say, Where is he? 8 He will fly away like a dream, and not be found; Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says the LORD. NKJV
