How to begin the paper • Since the prompt asks you to discuss voice and connect Mora’s use of voice to the theme, you need to make sure that you include this information in the topic sentence/thesis. • Also, in your thesis statement you want to introduce the author and the title of the poem • Since we need to discuss the theme in our thesis, it would probably be wise to identify it now. To come up with a good theme, consider the conflict of the text (in this case it would be the cultural identity conflict the narrator faces) and attach that to a lesson.
