  1. PE teacher: What about some team game to finish our lesson with? Pupils / boys: Yeah, great! PE teacher: And what would you like to play? Pupils / boys: Floorball!!! Yes, that`s how the communication really goes – more often than not. Very popular game in the Czech Republic, although rather a recent one – developed only in 1970`s in Sweden. Since it is played indoors on a wooden or rubber mat floor or just a basketball court, it is a year-round sport at amateur and professional levels. There are professional leagues, performing the game in the world floorball championships and many prestigious competitions. Floorball is played indoors on a rink whose size can officially vary from 18–22 meters wide to 36–44 meters long. The rink is surrounded by 50 cm high enclosed boards with rounded corners. The goals are 160 cm wide and 115 cm high. Their depth is 65 cm and they are 2.85 meters from the end of the nearest boards. In a school gym walls of a gym are adequate to be used as a make shift rink. The game is played with 3 to 5 field players and a goalie depending on the court size. The goalie plays without a stick and can catch the ball within the goalie crease. The goalie must not hold the ball for more than 3 seconds and when throwing the ball, it must hit the floor before passing the central line. The ball maybe kicked, but no more than once and not to a team mate. It must not be played with the hands or head. The stick must not be raised above knee level. No form of pushing or physically tackling the body of a player is allowed. You are not allowed to jump and play the ball at the same time. You are not allowed to tackle through the legs or hit an opponent's stick. A floorball game is officially played over three periods lasting 20 minutes each (15 minutes for juniors). The time is stopped in the case of penalties, goals, time-outs and any situation where the ball is not considered to be in play. An intermission of 10 minutes takes place between each period, where teams change ends and substitution areas. Each team is allowed one timeout of 30 seconds (which is often used late in matches). These are, of course, only basic rules. But doesn`t it feel like trying yourself? All in all – if the pupils love it so much, it seems worth the effort, doesn`t it? source: en.Wikipedia.org , http://www.scribd.com/doc/23736953/Basic-Floorball-Rules
