READ: ISAIAH 10:1-5 1 "Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed 2 To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of My people, That widows may be their prey, And that they may rob the fatherless. 3 What will you do in the day of punishment, And in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory? 4 Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners, And they shall fall among the slain.“ For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.

READ: EXODUS 22:21-27 21 "You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22 "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. 23 If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; 24 and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25 "If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest. 26 If you ever take your neighbor's garment as a pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down. 27 For that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What will he sleep in? And it will be that when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am gracious. NKJV

Then it was well with him. 16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; Then it was well. Was not this knowing Me?" says the LORD. 17 "Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence." NKJV

WHAT DID THE PSALMIST SAY? READ: PSALMS 35:8 8 Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly, And let his net that he has hidden catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall. NKJV

NKJV READ: PSALMS 59:5 5 O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. NKJV

READ: PROVERBS 1:27-30 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. 28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, 30 They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. But I will provoke them to jealousyby those who are not a nation; I will move them to angerby a foolish nation. NKJV READ: 2 KINGS 19:22-24 22 'Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel. 23 By your messengers you have reproached the Lord, Andsaid: "By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, To the limits of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars And its choice cypress trees; I will enter the extremity of its borders, To its fruitful forest. 24 I have dug and drunk strange water, And with the soles of my feet I have dried up All the brooks of defense." NKJV READ: JEREMIAH 50:15 15 Shout against her all around; She has given her hand, Her foundations have fallen, Her walls are thrown down; For it is the vengeance of the LORD. Take vengeance on her. As she has done, so do to her. NKJV

The prophet is a fool, The spiritual man is insane, Because of the greatness of your iniquity and great enmity. READ: JEREMIAH 39:6 6 The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes in Riblah; the king of Babylon also killed all the nobles of Judah. 7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon. NKJV READ: NAHUM 3:3 3 Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear. There is a multitude of slain, A great number of bodies, Countless corpses — They stumble over the corpses — NKJV WHY DOES THE LORD STILL HOLD OUT HIS HAND?

WHY WILL THE LORD DESTROY ASSYRIA?

WHO WAS KING OF ASSYRIA? SENNACHERIB? READ: 2 KINGS 19:20-21 20 Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel:'Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.‘

WHO DID THE LORD SEND AGAINST THE KING OF ASSYRIA? NEBUCHADNEZZAR? READ: JEREMIAH 27:8 8 It shall be, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and which will not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish,' says the LORD, 'with the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. NKJV

QUESTIONS: ISAIAH 10:5-7 5 "Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hand is My indignation. 6 I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets. WHY IS HE CALLED THE ROD OF THE LORD’S ANGER? AND THE STAFF OF HIS INDIGNATION? READ: JEREMIAH 51:20-23 20 "You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms; 21 "Go up against the land of Merathaim, against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Waste and utterly destroy them," says the LORD, "And do according to all that I have commanded you. 22 A sound of battle is in the land, And of great destruction. 23 How the hammer of the whole earth has been cut apart and broken! How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations! I have laid a snare for you; NKJV

WHY WILL THE LORD DESTROY ASSYRIA? READ: 2 CHRONICLES 28:9 9 A prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the army that came to Samaria, and said to them: "Look, because the LORD God of your fathers was angry with Judah, He has delivered them into your hand; but you have killed them in a rage that reaches up to heaven. NKJV READ: ZEPHANIAH 2:13 13 He will stretch out His hand against the north, Destroy Assyria, And make Nineveh a desolation, As dry as the wilderness.

Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria, 11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols, Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?'"

IN WHAT DID THEY EXCELL JERUSALEM AND SAMARIA? HOW IS SAMARIA LIKE DAMASCUS? WHAT DID THE LORD DO TO SAMARIA? WHAT WILL THE LORD DO TO JERUSALEM?

WHAT DID JOSEPH SAY TO HIS BRETHREN? READ: GENESIS 50:20 20 As for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. NKJV WHO DID THE LORD RAISE UP TO DO THESE THINGS? READ: PROVERBS 16:4 4 The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. NKJV DOES MAN UNDERSTAND WHY THE LORD DOES THESE THINGS? READ: MICAH 4:12 12 But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, Nor do they understand His counsel; For He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor. NKJV

READ: EZEKIEL 26:7 7 “Thus says the Lord GOD: 'Behold, I will bring against Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses, with chariots, and with horsemen, and an army with many people. NKJV WHO DID THE LORD GOD RAISE UP AGAINST THEM? READ: DANIEL 2:37 37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; NKJV

WHO SAID: ARE NOT MY PRINCES KINGS? WHO IS THIS king of kings? NEBUCHADNEZZAR? READ: DANIEL 2:37 37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; NKJV WHO IS THIS king of kings? ARTAXERXES? READ: EZRA 7:12 12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, a scribe of the Law of the God of heaven: Perfect peace, and so forth. NKJV

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THESE CITIES? CALNO? CARCHEMISH? HAMATH? ARPAD? WHAT DID THE LORD FIND IN THESE CITIES? IN WHAT DID THEY EXCELL JERUSALEM AND SAMARIA? HOW WAS SAMARIA LIKE DAMASCUS? WHAT DID THE LORD DO TO SAMARIA? WHAT WILL THE LORD DO TO JERUSALEM?

CALNEH WAS PART OF THE KINGDOM OF NIMROD READ: GENESIS 10:10 10 The beginning of his kingdom wasBabel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. NKJV CARCHEMISH WAS IN THE LAND OF THE HITTITES READ: 2 CHRONICLES 35:20 20 When Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him. IN WHAT DID THEY EXCELL JERUSALEM AND SAMARIA? WHAT DID THE LORD DO TO SAMARIA? WHAT DID THE KING OF ASSYRIA DO? READ: 2 KINGS 17:5 5 The king of Assyria went throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years. NKJV READ: 2 KINGS 17:24 24 The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities. READ: 2 KINGS 18:33-35 33 Has any of the gods of the nations at all delivered its land from the hand of the king of Assyria? 34 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad ? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim and Hena and Ivah? Indeed, have they delivered Samaria from my hand? 35 Who among all the gods of the lands have delivered their countries from my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem from my hand?'" NKJV WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR IDOLS?

READ: 2 KINGS 19:12-13 12 Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar? 13 Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?'" NKJV READ: 2 KINGS 19:17-18 17 Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 And have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men's hands — wood and stone. READ: AMOS 6:1-2 1 Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, And trust in Mount Samaria, Notable persons in the chief nation, To whom the house of Israel comes! 2 Go over to Calneh and see; And from there go to Hamath the great; Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their territory greater than your territory?

READ: ISAIAH 10:12-13 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, "I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks." 13 For he says: "By the strength of my hand I have done it, And by my wisdom, for I am prudent; Also I have removed the boundaries of the people, And have robbed their treasuries; So I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man.
