Towards Scottish Social Care Reference Costs

This project aims to establish a standardized approach to determine social care costs in Scotland. It explores methodologies, analyses spend, and identifies areas for improvement. The goal is to have a comprehensive understanding of social care costs by December 2009, with feasible gaps filled by April 2010.

Assessment (in first instance) • High; medium; Low care package costs • Complex cases & dementia • How close?.... a local and national body of work exists, but we need to reflect on methodology. • Next steps, to consider and agree what we have by end December 2009 with a view to filling (feasible) gaps by April 2010
