  3. Research shows • This sample questionnaire items and raw scores of the fruit and vegetable survey. • It included fourth and fifth grade students in both of the intervention and control school. Here is an example of what questions that were asked.

  4. Parents and Schools • Parents are role models for their kids and what they eat kids will follow. • Teach kids the right way to snack and limit their access to candy, cola and other sweets!

  8. Daily Intake • Everyday kids need a healthy dose of every food group to maintain good eating habits and nutrition. • Daily intake for kids 6-11 years old: • Fruits: 1 ½ Cups • Vegetables: 2 ½ cups

  9. Ways to get Daily Servings. • For Fruits: • 1 piece of fruit or melon wedge • 3/4 cup of juice • 1/2 canned fruit • 3/4 dried fruit • For Vegetables: • 1/2 cup of chopped raw or cooked veggies • 1 cup raw leafy greens

  10. Inspire Kids! • Kids learn by doing so let them help • Clean • Peel • Cut up fruits and vegetables • While shopping, allow children to pick out a new fruit or vegetable to try later at home.

  11. FV Process • In studies it shows that kids that are shown vegetables more often and different kinds of vegetables can raise their liking also it is important because of the way kids lean to fruits more easily then vegetables.
