Influence of Existing Network Naming Structure on Windows 2000 Implementation

This status report evaluates the current situation regarding the implementation of Windows 2000 at the CLRC, highlighting the importance of NT in office systems, the centralized management of PCs, and the planned cautious approach towards Active Directory. It discusses the committee's formation, the adherence to standard configurations, and the challenges posed by the legacy naming structure. Key considerations for future development include testing non-Microsoft DNS and addressing potential issues with IP aliases. The historical context of the laboratory will significantly influence domain design and migration tasks.
