Enhancing Student Representation and Services at NMU: ASNMU Initiatives and Leadership Highlights

During the academic years 2010-2012, ASNMU undertook significant efforts to improve transparency and student representation at Northern Michigan University. Leaders, including Vice President Courtney Russell and President Justin Brugman, participated in numerous committees and meetings to foster positive relationships with university administrators. Initiatives included establishing a 24-hour study lounge, improving dining service hours, and supporting vibrant campus programs like Wildcat Wallet and Bike Share. Collaboration with students was prioritized to ensure their voices were heard in all university decisions.

  4. Establish positive relationships with University Administrators • President’s Council • Enrollment Management Network • One on one meetings • Coffee Talk • University Committees

  5. Strive to fill all student spots on ALL university committees in order to ensure student representation

  6. Work to establish a 24-hour study lounge on campus

  7. Establish more ways to make ASNMU representatives more available to students • Marketplace and Den Hours • NMU Dining Service Committee • Idea of Starbucks hours and PEIF hours
