  2. Trig Tan 30= x 36 (tan 30)36=x x≈20.78 Column= 20.78+4.75 Column= 25.53ft 30˚ Special Right Triangle l.leg= sh.leg √3 l.leg= sh.leg √3 √3 √3 36×√3=36√3 √3×√3 √3 Column=36√3≈ 3 20.78+4.75=25.53ft 4.75 ft 36 ft

  3. 60˚ Trig Tan 60= x 8 (tan 60)8=x X≈13.86 Column≈13.86+5.17 Column≈19.03ft Special Right Triangle l.leg=sh.leg√3 l.leg=8√3≈13.86 Column= 13.86+ 5.17 Column= 19.03ft 5.17 ft 8 ft

  4. 45˚ Trig Tan 45=x 16 (tan 45)16=x X=16 Column=16+5.17 Column=21.17ft Special Right Triangle Leg=leg X=16 Column=16+5.17 Column=21.17ft 5.17 ft 16 ft

  5. 40˚ Trig Tan 40= x 18 (tan 40)18=x X=15.10 Column=15.10+4.92 Column=20.02ft 4.92 ft 18 ft

  6. Conclusion Average 19.13ft Our group chose a column in the lunchroom to measure but instead of using tape measures and a lot of our time we used trigonometry and special right triangles to find out how tall it is. After using trigonometry and special right triangles we conclude that the column is about 19.13ft.
