Live Event Date: Nov 15, 2018 Expiration Date: Nov 14, 2021 Credits: 1.0 Description: Think of a classic presentation of an allergy-sufferer: itching skin, headaches, facial ?ushing, runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. It’s an uncomfortable situation that many people ?ght often multiple times each year. If you’ve worked with patients who struggle with these symptoms of environmental allergies, they may have a histamine imbalance which can be more than just a seasonal phenomenon. Histamine is a chemical present in most tissues that’s involved in in?ammatory responses that work to rid the body of allergens. Through this one-hour presentation, you will learn what causes the body to have an over-circulation of histamines and how to control these symptoms through lifestyle and dietary interventions, aside from typical anti-histamine medications. We will discuss a low-histamine diet which may provide symptomatic relief for your patients. Additionally, you will learn about mast-cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and how histamine intolerance plays a role in the disorder. This lecture will teach you how mast cells are more than just an allergic or anaphylactic response, but also their role in immune activation, development of autoimmunity and many other disorders. Viewers will learn a functional medicine approach in identifying histamine intolerance cases and providing realistic interventions.
