  1. Comparing and Contrasting Literature

  2. Copy and fill out the chart below in order to pinpoint the elements of humor found in each story. Include page numbers to support your evidence.

  3. Write a comparison and contrast essay. Choose 2 of the following stories to compare and contrast: Haroun and the Sea of Stories “Brer Rabbit and Brer Lion” “Brer Possum’s Dilemma” “The Ransom of Red Chief”

  4. Write a comparison and contrast essay. Choose 3 humorous elements found (or not found in the stories) to discuss in your essay. Write a 5 paragraph essay comparing the stories.

  5. Each paragraph must contain 5-7 sentences. You must have a completed Venn diagram, rough draft and final draft. Essay must be hand-written on loose-leaf paper. Skip lines throughout entire paper. Do not write on the back of your paper. Each paragraph may only have two linking verbs.

  6. Do Not Use the Following Words • A lot • “it seems to me” • “I think” • “I feel” • “I believe” You are the authority in your paper. State your opinions as facts.

  8. Introduction Must Include • Title of both stories • Authors of both stories • Very brief summary of each story • Thesis statement explaining how each contain or do not contain some humorous elements
